What has to happen to have a smooth winter? We’ve got three critical tasks that will get you ready for the colder months. Now is the time to plan, check, and prep for the unexpected.

1 - Landscape Clean-up

The growing season is coming to a close, and it will soon be time to tidy up the grounds for the winter months. This includes performing the maintenance of the sprinkler system. A frozen sprinkler system is a broken system. Call your sprinkler people today and get on their schedule.

Even though foliage dies, it doesn’t mean your landscape has to look bad. Cut back tall dying grasses, prune dead branches off shrubs and trees, and don’t forget about the weeds. Fall is a great time to manage weeds; Spring will be easier. While you are at it, check your parking lot lights for burned-out light bulbs.

2 - Prevent the havoc with your HVAC

The HVAC system needs to be working in top shape. Whether it’s cooling the building on an Indian Summer day or heating it up on the first frozen morning, get your system ready for the highs and lows. Check the heat exchangers, change the filters, and make sure the belts are in good shape. No one likes an overheated business or one that is frigidly cold.

3 - Snow contacts

If only we could predict the snowfall. Snow contracts can’t be ignored. And no, you are not going to shovel snow yourself. Do it right and get your snow contracts lined up sooner rather than later. The liability is too great not to have someone ready to plow and shovel walkways. Keep your business tenants happy and your building safe.
